A mother who left her little girl home alone in a house littered with police has escaped being sent to prison.



The mum abandoned her nine-year-old daughter to go out drinking, a court was told.

Police found the child alone in a house littered with cat excrement, piled-up rubbish and beer cans, with the food in the fridge mostly mouldy or of out-of-date.

The 31-year-old mother, from the Marton area of Blackpool, who can not be identified for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to child neglect, assault and fraudulently obtaining a taxi ride.

She was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the defendant got a cab in the town centre on June 3, at 4.45am, but then refused to get out of the taxi and pay the fare.

The taxi driver decided to drive her to a police station, but on the way she kicked him in the head. After being questioned at the station a woman police officer was sent to the mother’s home. She found the front door of the address was open.

Once inside, the smell of animal excreta was extremely strong and cat droppings were littered about.

The television was on, piles of rubbish and beer cans were strewn around. The officer found the little girl asleep in a small bedroom.

When woken she told the police officer her name, that she was nine-years-old and that her mother had tucked her in.

When interviewed by police the mother said she had no recollection of being in the town centre and was shocked her child was home alone.

She said she had drunk two cans of lager and for the first time took a sleeping tablet that had been prescribed by a doctor for her.

She was also taking anti-depressant tablets at the time, the court heard.

I think I picked her up last night !
Woman comes out of house and gets in car to go to work at a hospital, absolutely reeking of 'damp dog' and cat pee. You know how a dogs saliva smells ? Well this smelt like she'd washed her clothes in dog spit and then been licked from head to toe by dogs followed by a rolling around on a cat pee soaked carpet. Understandable if she worked in a kennels or a vets but this was someone GOING to work in a place where hygiene is a priority There wasn't even the faintest whiff of soap, deodorant or perfume.

Is it just my area, but I'd say 60% of my passengers absolutely stink !!

I'm curious, if she was that bad, why did you picked her up? I've emptied smelly fat people before and told them to go get a scrub.

Oh and if someone is absolutely howling, I wouldn't pick them up in the first place.

Oh yes, I have, I even kicked a lawyer up the ar*e after dragging him out of my taxi. You obviously don't know me Grandad. I've had many a run-in with the authorities, refusing wheelchairs, confrontations with other road users, violence against taxi drivers and generally, not taking shi* from anyone.

When you got in my taxi, you behaved, or you got thrown the fu*k out. I wasn't paid to take sh*t, so it rarely happened.

I can give you the gory details of what happened to get fatty thrown out of the taxi. She was as round as a beach-ball and fuc*ing stinking, and more than a man could bear.

Oh and grandad, let me tell you the story: I was ranked at the Gyle shopping center on a nice hot summer's day, when I was given a job off the radio, to make a pick-up at the front door, which I thought was a bit strange, as it was a short walk to the rank. Nevertheless, I pulled up and waited, only for Miss Roly-poly to roll out of the front door with her entourage. The first person opened the door, and I sh*t you not. This rather round fat person was struggling to get her foot high enough, to step her body into the taxi and almost filled the whole door space. That's when the smell of stale pish, cigarette smoke and BO hit me. It was overpowering. I shouted, hold it! Hold it! And jumped out of the taxi and went around to the open door. I said, no way, she's not getting in here. She's fu*ing stinking!! I then grabbed the door and closed it to a torrent of abuse and got back in the cab. Shortly after, I was contacted by the radio company, and I told the controller the same thing about the smell, and I never heard another word about it.

Plenty of times i got rid of a job because of hygene/smells.Ive known a driver to who used to stop the taxi,get out open back door and spray air freshner at punters.Getting back to the story is anyone really shocked ?

It's really pretty sad, what people can be reduced to and sometimes through no fault of their own. I don't like judging things like this because life can be tough.
