Im sure ive seen a meter that can be used in a PH car (most can but this was in PHT monthly) and may use GPS to calculate distance travelled, any ideas?

i asked our LO if a PH meter needed the £35 meter check hacks need and she said "weve never been asked that, ill find out"

that was 6 months ago

If the price is agreed at the time of booking why do you need a meter, and if there using gps there not meters.

Google 'GPS taxi meter' and it brings up a few possible ones.
But;
http://www.taxicabelectronics.com/gpsmeters.html?032313

To which I'll add GPS only measures distance accurately on level ground, going up or downhill and it records the distance travelled as less than actual, unless it's one of the fancy 3D GPS sytems.

working via a base i never get asked beforehand for the cost, i have a pre-printed price list (dated 2010/2011) which only has a basic guide, whereas the best thing i can say about my time in a hack was having a meter...

Theres no requirement to have a meter in a PH here, and no procedure to check it, my LO ran and hid when i asked, as a PH i can charge what i want, Trading standards wouldnt have any interest in a PH meter where there was no set tariff, ive heard there are apps for android phones so i will take a look at them

In theory i could fit any old meter on any old tariff and not break and laws or regs

The rules here are that you don't have to have a meter in a PH. However if you do fit one it has to be calibrated to the Hackney rate.
