What kind of vehicle do you use?

Can all vehicles go without a roof sign, or just certain types?

I use a mondeo hatchback,it is the same rules for all taxis in the borough regardless of what make/type of vehicle.The only disadvantage with using this type of sign is in daylight their nearly invisible,but are very prominent at night.

Would your council let you away with this?

A driver has just got a new Merc vito.

He wont put a roofsign on it, so he has got a small neon strip that displays the name and number of his firm... it moves along the strip like one of these things you sometimes see in shop window. It looks like a boy racer kind of thing. Its quite small lettering, but its at the top of the passsenger side windscreen.

He has also got an illegal number plate on the back...I think its RU54 LBA, but hes got a square one and split it to read;

RU5
4LBA

3 months later and it seems the council have finally persuaded him that the conditions of license say he has to have a roofsign.

The polis must have noticed his number plate as well, because its now legalized.

The best option is a MOGO bracket, these are really easy to fit.

Visit WWW.MOGO.CO.UK

On the website, it shows you which vehicles they are compatible with and how to affix them.

I have seen a car with the plate on a length of chain, it swings all over the place. I don't think the LA would be too happy about that.

We have taxis without roof signs, which I think look stupid.

But we also have some cabs that belong in the junk yard.
