Taxi driver tells of horror after yobs jump on car and tell him they're going to 'kill him'

Qamar Shah was driving in Openshaw when he was set upon by a gang of thugs

A taxi driver has spoken of his horror after thugs jumped on his car screaming: “We’re going to kill you.”

Qamar Shah was driving through Openshaw when the gang of yobs ran up to his Toyota, hitting it and smashing his lights.

As the terrified cabbie called 999, the youths yelled at him: “Come outside, we’re going to kill you.”

Police are now examining CCTV footage to identify the attackers following the incident at 12.20pm on Saturday on Cheadle Street.

Mr Shah, 31, says he has been left with a bill of more than £1,000 to fix the car - which he was on a lease deal working for Hastings Private Hate in Clayton .

He told the M.E.N. he has been unable to work since the incident - and has been left terrified while driving.

Dad-of-three Mr Shah, who lives near Blackburn, Lancashire, said: “I was driving along Cheadle Street when I saw a group of five of six lads walking along the pavement.

“I knew they were trouble, as soon as I saw them.

“They started walking in the middle of the road as I was trying to drive past. Then they came over and started hitting my car.

“They were jumping on the roof, smashing my car. They were outside my window shouting ‘we’re going to kill you’ and telling me to get out.

“I was very scared. I called 999 because I thought they were really going to hurt me. I thought they were going to kill me. Then they ran away.

“I think there were cameras nearby, so hopefully the police will be able to find them. People have told me I’m going to have to pay more than £1,000 for repairs.

“It’s a company car on a lease. I’ve been told I can’t come back to work until I’ve paid to have it fixed.

“I was frightened after it happened.”

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed Mr Shah had reported the incident and that officers are searching for the culprits.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Do you know what! I can never remember any trade union stepping up and claiming that they gave help or assistance to any one individual - it is all BS.

Point out to me i.e proof, of anything in the last couple of years where a Union has helped any one person. When it comes to spending money on an individual - they do not.

I would like to think that if this happened to most drivers on here there would be no trouble identifying the yobs, or at least some of them, from their dental records after they had been run over a few times in self defense.
