By the time you add in all our equipment, and heating in winter that will be the range down to 60 miles
And that's fine for the solo driver who only does that in a shift, doesn't do airport/long runs and can charge it at home overnight.
No good though for long jobs or cars with two drivers or no space to charge at home.
They are ideal in certain situations, you buy a vehicle dependant on what the job requirements are. I do less than 100 miles a shift (maybe 50-60 midweek 80-100 weekends), hardly ever go out of town or do a fare that goes more than 3 miles, so if it wasn't for the fact I have a second driver and nowhere to charge at home an electric vehicle would suit my needs just fine.
Now get the range over 200 miles and a 1 hour charge and it's completely different, or a 1000 mile range in ten hours, or a 20 mile range in ten seconds (well maybe not that one !). It all comes down to range and charge time at the moment.
