There are three types of Hybrid and each of them offers varying degrees of electrical assistance, some simply help with acceleration and braking, some can run a small distance on electricity created through the engine and or braking and then theres Plug in Hybrids that can run for a short distance on a charge from a power point.

It would all depend on how far they travel as to the benefits of ownership....PHEV is great for the short daily runs, Mild Hybrids for longer distances and Hybrids for use in ULEZ type zones.

There is not a one size fits all hybrid that suits PH or Hack work.

I'll be running my old Oil Burner well after that providing I can still buy diesel...i guess I will can as it'll be at least ten years after the Ban that leccy cars start to outnumber Petrol or Diesel cars, and Who knows, Hydrogen vehicles might be the biggest thing by them.

Our Toyota Prius hybrid seems to fit the bill quite nicely.

I'm sure it's pretty good but on long runs it's basically another petrol car with an MPG that is no better than many a modern diesel engine which can do 60+ MPG.

With zero road tax and reduction in license fees and no DPF problems or any of the other problems with diesels, i think it wins by a long way.

They'll soon scrap the zero tax concession as the EV sector increases..they need the money, license fee reduction will be minimal and as for DPF problems they are not that common on modern diesels if a good servicing regime is adhered to.
