Question

Where do the wages come from with such losses?

Money left over from the IPO.

Financial Highlights for Fourth Quarter 2021

Gross Bookings grew 51% year-over-year (“YoY”) to $25.9 billion, or 50% on a constant currency basis, with Mobility Gross Bookings of $11.3 billion (+67% YoY) and Delivery Gross Bookings of $13.4 billion (+34% YoY). Trips during the quarter grew 23% YoY to 1.77 billion, or approximately 19 million trips per day on average.
Revenue grew 83% YoY to $5.8 billion, or 82% on a constant currency basis.
https://investor.uber.com/news-events/n ... Year-2021/

And all those numbers led to a fourth quarter profit of $892 million. Which should have had investors jumping for joy.

However that profit was helped by a $1.4 billion revaluation of outside investments.

So in effect, it was a half a billion dollar loss despite those fabulous numbers quoted above. #-o

But it doesn't end there.

That $1.4 billion revaluation profit has been revalued this year and is now a $7.8 billion loss. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Will Uber still be here in 10 years' time? Of course.

But it will not be owned by its' current set of shareholders, more likely owned by banks.

The current shareholders will get 1-5p in the pound.

Current share price is exactly $30.00.

Little bit up from last year, but still down about 30% since IPO.

Despite mugging off the financial press, will more tales of a highly profitable future, Uber is currently $33.40.

Which is 5% down on the year, and 20% down since IPO.

And to be fair they only lost $9.1 billion last year. :-k

For the first 6 months of 2021 they surpassed it, but it soon crashed back down.

It's currently valued at about $16 billion less than its IPO.

Add that to the current losses since it was born of $33.6 billion, means that those mugs from Silicon Valley are nearly $50 billion down.

No wonder they can't pay their VAT in full.

Clinical dissection of Uber's latest numbers by Hubert Horan, who has spent the last few years informing the world what a crock of poo Uber really are.
