Short piece, and thus doesn't take much reading to work out why the runner here was actually charged.

And, to that extent, whoever wrote the piece and headline have maybe got their priorities back to front?

But maybe the fact that someone was actually charged with bilking a taxi fare is more newsworthy than the other stuff :-o

Woman charged with skipping taxi fare from Glasgow to Greenock

A WOMAN has been charged with hiring a taxi from Glasgow to Greenock without paying the near £50 fare.

Megan White, 26, is said to have taken a cab from the Gorbals to Bow Road before allegedly assaulting a female police officer.

Prosecutors say that White obtained a hire whilst on bail without paying or intending to pay a £47.70 charge.

She is further accused of struggling violently with three police officers and trying to kick a PC.

White, whose address was not given in court, is said to have committed the alleged offences on July 1 2021.

She has pleaded not guilty through lawyer Paul Lynch at the sheriff court.

The case is due to call again on July 18, ahead of a trial scheduled for August 9.

YBB, I often wonder if drivers like that are just taking the risk to get a decent job, and just hoping it doesn't go pear-shaped at the other end.

Certainly done jobs like that where they say they'll get the money at the other end, but there's always a risk, obviously, and you just have to go on a hunch.

And, for example, if it was a 10-mile run to down near where I live at the end of the night, I'd be more inclined to take the risk than for a 10-mile run in the 'wrong' direction.

That said, £47.70 for a 25-mile run or thereabouts doesn't seem like the kind of money to take a huge risk for. But maybe the driver lives out that way

Some may find it tempting to take a risk, but is taking a risk really what we are out there for?

Scum like this woman will always take liberties, and I suspect she would have been blanked by many other drivers.

My view has always been if a job feels iffy then it's an iffy job. Blank it and wait for another one.
