Police were called to the crash at 3.30am on Saturday, April 1, in St Peter’s Road involving a silver Hyundai Penton and a taxi, a silver Skoda Octavia.

The taxi driver, a man aged in his 40s, required hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the occupants of the Hyundai are said to have fled the scene.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from an address in Grantham Road in Boscombe, having last been seen at around 7am on Friday, March 31.

An 18-year-old Bournemouth man has since been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving offences.

He has been released on police bail as further enquiries are conducted.

Investigations Officer Steve White, of Bournemouth police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this matter and I would urge anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please contact us.

“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving of the Hyundai prior to it, as well as anybody who may have relevant dashcam footage.

“I would also like to speak to anyone with information regarding the reported theft of the vehicle.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230050031.

Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
