A pedestrian was rushed to hospital following a hit and run in the west of Glasgow. The 50-year-old man was struck by a white taxi at around 1.15am on Great Western Road near Warden Road. He remains in hospital in a serious condition. The road was closed to the public following the incident and reopened at around 8.50am this morning.

Great Western Rd has some history of vehicle/pedestrian incidents - it's a wide dual carriageway with pavements both sides. 30mph at that junction and there's a fixed speed camera eastbound.

I hope he makes a full recovery but given the time of night and the likelihood that the pedestrian was "in drink" then the driver of the vehicle has been really stupid because driving off will severely hinder his cause if they are caught and taken to court.

Indeed, you can go to prison just for that, even if the pedestrian was 100% to blame for his injuries.

And 100% certain to lose your taxi/PH license.
