Nearly a year now since Strathclyde Police tried to get their areas local councils to pull their heads out the sand & face up to their responsabilities and licence 'special event vehicles'

The Police wrote to all the councils giving them 4 months (dated 06/04/05)to introduce a licence system which would allow those reputable operators out there to become part of the license private hire structure & still the local authorites fail them

When will the LA's get their act together ?

Let's hope some clarification might come out with any new Taxi and PH best practise guidance.

I think even the Scottish Executive are going to publish something.

I am sure everone knows that you cant rely on any form of government to do anything in a hurry

The only thing local councils do on time is send out council tax reminders

I was on the phone today to some guy at Glasgow City Council licensing dept today about limo licensing cause I would like to do it legit

All he could say was they do not have a licence for that at the moment & the government will need to change the law to add what he called special event licences

Is this correct and has anyone else heard anything ?

Some local authorities currently license them, and I'm sure some of them are in Scotland, so there's no need to wait for a change in the law.

I think Edinburgh licenses them??
