When you look at the change in the percentage of the votes for the Labour party is shows that they only increased their share by 1.6% So overall they didn't get much from the election. Reform and the lib Dems took most of the votes from the Tories.
1 strange result from Leicester East though. The tories took the seat from Labour, how did that happen?

because the existing MP was standing as an independant and Labour had a new candidate so Labour vote was split it might also have helped that labour chose one of sadiq khans cronies whereas the tory candidate was a local girl plus I suspect appealed to the local hindu population which is quite substantial in that part of Leicester

Make no mistake Labour didn't win this election, the Tories lost it.

Reform now being in Parliament will be a nightmare for Labour.

Most people now get their politics from social media, not the traditional media, and Reform are very cute with their online dealings.

Tend to agree - lowest turnout since 2001. Conservatives seem to have lost 7m+ voters since 2019. Either they voted for someone else or they stayed at home (which would tell a story in itself).

Not quite the same in Scotland - low turnout and SNP votes down by 500k. But Labour's share of the vote is well above 2019 (unlike rest of UK).

Think both the Conservatives and SNP need to so some self-assessment of where it's gone wrong.

The tories i would say is simple they lost sight of who their party represents and core values coupled to some abysmal leadership choices.

Snp probably a realisation by voters that they are just as scandalous and capable of mismanagement of the economy as everyone else

One tale from this election made me smile, and that was the election of the fifth Reform MP.

Nobody, including the candidate, believed he would win, so Reform had their four MP press conference.

So the fella rang up Farage telling him that he might have won and they were doing a recount.

Farage asked to speak to his agent and the fella said he didn't have one.

Then Farage asked him who he was there with, and the fella said it was him and his mum and dad. =D>
