Shape Buckinghamshire's updated taxi licensing policy

Residents, taxi and private hire drivers and operators are amongst those being invited by Buckinghamshire Council to help shape the future of taxi and private hire services as it begins a public consultation on updating its county-wide taxi and private hire licensing policy.

The consultation began on Monday 16 September and will run for ten weeks, closing on 24 November. The consultation - via an online survey at YourVoiceBucks - includes background information and explanations of the policy. Survey results will be supplemented by workshops with specific interest groups to inform an updated policy.

Councillor Mark Winn, Cabinet Member for Homelessness and Regulatory Services, commented: "This consultation is a crucial step in ensuring that our taxi and private hire licensing policy reflects the needs and expectations of users. We are committed to providing a safe and accessible means of transport for all, and all feedback will help us to achieve this goal."

The consultation covers key areas including driver applications, vehicle requirements, accessibility, private hire operators and CCTV in licensed vehicles. The Council already has a robust criminal record and unacceptable behaviour policy which will be considered in a future consultation.

The council encourages all interested parties to participate in the consultation and share their views. The feedback received will be invaluable in ensuring that the new policy meets the needs of users and aligns with national best practice.
