At first glance this isn't particularly noteworthy in the grand scheme of things.

Funny thing, though, is that two different offices in the town have got together to address a problem that seems to be afflicting both of them :?

Which again might not be anything too out of the ordinary. Funny thing, though, the last time I recall posting about these two I cynically titled the thread 'Johnstone ops tell whole world they're colluding on fares' :-o

Alpha Taxis Johnstone and Johnstone TOA Taxis have both shared an appeal after their staff's vehicles were targeted by thieves, leaving drivers 'distressed' and out of pocket.

Two taxi companies in Renfrewshire have joined forces to offer a financial reward after their vehicles were targeted in a wave of 'attacks'.

Alpha Taxis Johnstone and Johnstone TOA Taxis have both shared an appeal after their staff's vehicles were targeted by thieves, leaving drivers 'distressed' and out of pocket.

Issuing a statement to their social media on Wednesday (September 18), both companies confirmed that they are now prepared to offer a financial reward for the 'successful apprehension and subsequent conviction of the individual (s) involved' in the spate of attacks.

Their post reads: "As you will all be aware there has been a recent series of attacks on taxis across the area whereby the windows have been smashed and items removed from inside the vehicles.

"This has caused a significant amount of distress to the drivers involved and has cost a lot of money in repairing the damage along with a significant loss of earnings to our drivers.

"We would like to advise everyone that none of our drivers leave anything of any value within their vehicles, this includes money!

"Both Alpha Taxis and Johnstone TOA are now prepared to offer a financial reward for the successful apprehension and subsequent conviction of the individual (s) involved in this spate of attacks.

"Should you have details of who is / has been responsible then please get in touch with the taxi office and ask for the office manager."

It is unclear exactly where the taxis are being targeted however, this suggests the Renfrewshire area as a whole.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
