Seen some pretty horrible pics on the internet but despite quite a lot of rain (1 inch last 24 hours) all our local river levels are normal even the ones that usually flood haven't this time

Are we just lucky round here or is the media painting a darker picture than it really is.

I notice melton is on flood alert but guage is a metre below the level needed to cause flooding

Still all passable around Melton but that could soon change.

Quite lucky down here.

The monsoon rains merely drain into the sea.

There is flooding from the Wreake in Asfordby on Station Lane and also on Hoby Road. This is nothing unusual though. Many of the roads around here that use to get flooded don't anymore, believe it or not it is because of the new housing estates. Each one has a massive attenuation pond that stops the water from getting to the roads and hods it on the estate until levels are lower.
There are a couple of bridges where the road dips to go under them that get flooded but that water doesn't usually stay long.
The roads between Sileby and Mountsorrel near Barrow on Soar usually get flooded whe the Soar gets high. The usual ones are, and don't laugh, Slash Lane and Flesh Hovel Lane.

I saw a video on the net today which shows Sileby pretty much flooded all over albeit not deep flooding

It always was when it was open, well apart from the underground fires.
