All the more reason why drivers should join some form of representative body, who give you free access to the men in wigs for situations like the above.

In fact either paid through their own subscriptions or the subscriptions of others who keep out of trouble.

There's no such think as a free lunch.

Unless you get a taxi plate in a restricted area, that is :D

Yes, but the Chief Constable objects to you licence on the grounds you are “Not a fit and Proper Person” claiming you are in fact your not fit to drive a taxi.

Shouldn’t he just say Joe Bloggs has a conviction for X instead of trying to prejudice your case?

The Police only object if in the letter it states just that.

If it states in the letter Strathclyde Police has mad a Recomendation - he does exactly as you have said abut good old Joe Bloggs - he makes the council aware of your previous.

In Edinburgh the Chief Constable objects as a matter of course regardless of the crime.

Even so I think it’s fair to expect basic logic. One cannot become fit after a month’s suspension. I would think even a councillor could grasp this minor oversight.

It’s all about punishing people as an example of the omnipotent power these bas**** have. Is it any wonder the so called trade have made a habit of kissing ar** for all these years.

The thought of standing up to them scares them sh**less, better to have a few human sacrifices than to face your Lords and Masters. I mean after all they just might derestrict the trade.
