Mightn't have bothered posting this, but in view of all the headlines about taxis in Aberdeen, this isn't particularly good for the trade. Of course, the driver might be totally blameless, but you know how these things work...

But, obviously, the trade's image is nothing as compared to the deceased and his family :-|

The P&J's take is pretty straight bat, though, and certainly not framed in the way these incidents can be in other titles.

And it's all over all the other Scottish news titles, and in fact because the P&J is local it doesn't actually use the A-word. But all the rest do in their headlines, and some even give the impression it's in the city itself.

But at best it looks like it's on the outskirts, just north of Bridge of Don. Which I've actually always thought of as a separate settlement to the city of Aberdeen, but according to Wiki it's actually a suburb of the city.

And the P&J's photos confirm the impression that it's not exactly cityscape, as implied by other titles. More fast dual carriageway, in a semi-rural environment, and near a roundabout. And up there at that time of the morning midweek, a fair chance you wouldn't even see another vehicle within the confines of the photo.

A 41-year-old man has died following a crash on the A92 at Blackdog in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 3.15am, after a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a Ford taxi just north of Murcar.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have been informed.

The A92 remains closed and is expected to stay shut for a number of hours.

Southbound traffic is being diverted via the A90, while northbound drivers are being redirected onto the B999 through Potterton.

Several ambulance vehicles attended the scene during the early hours.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 3.13am to attend an incident on the A92.

“We dispatched one ambulance and our special operations team to the scene.”

Police appeal after fatal A92 Blackdog crash

Police have now issued an appeal for witnesses as inquiries continue.

Road Policing Sergeant Lesley Morrison said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died and we are offering them support at this difficult time.

“It is vital that we establish exactly what happened, and I am appealing for the public’s help.

“Were you in the area at the time and saw what happened? Did you see a pedestrian on the A92, or do you have any information that may assist our investigation?

“Do you have dash-cam footage from the area that may have captured anything significant? If so, please get in touch.”

And presumably that's actually a PHC plate in the photo, although not sure if it's Aberdeen City, or maybe Aberdeenshire?
