What I can never understand is, if tight black cab regulation is such a good thing, why should some minicab regulation be such a bad thing.

IMHO it is not a bad thing it is a good thing, for example a large number of the big corporates in London have had it written into their health and safety regs for employees that they can not use unlicenced vehicles operators or drivers to take them to the Airport.

Imagine the amount of extra business we now have access to that previously we could not go for, not that we can service this without drivers though :cry:

However the biggest problem for the punters is still identifying who is licensed and who is not, they just can not see the difference within the minicab trade, whereas a Hack stands out a mile. So consequently they either assume all minicabs are now licensed or they are all illegal, the question of if they can pick up from the street or not never generally enters into their mind, thus the tout was born.

we have the odd hundred or so of dinos down here.
one day when they are gone the trade might be able to progress.
but thats going to take too many years for an old sod like me.
