Back in 1992 an obsessed cabby was detained indefinately for sending threatening letters saying he would kill Michaela Strachan. Comparitively recently a man who intentionaly went out to rob and murdrer a taxi driver got 14 years. If the Cabby is thought to be a public risk for his obsession with Michaela Strachan, then why not the man who killed the cabby?

HEADLINE: FAN DETAINED INDEFINITELY AFTER MURDER THREATS TO TV WOMAN

AN OBSESSED fan who threatened to kill a TV presenter was ordered to be detained indefinitely at a psychiatric hospital yesterday.

Clifford Jones, an unemployed taxi driver, bombarded Michaela Strachan, host of ITV's children's wildlife show Owl TV and the dance programme Hit Man and Her, with 3,000 letters at the rate of six a day, Liverpool crown court was told.

A jury last month found Mr Jones, aged 42, a divorced father of three, guilty of two charges of threatening to kill Miss Strachan, aged 25.

Mr Jones, of Sefton Park, Liverpool, also pleaded guilty to three charges of sending indecent and obscene articles by post and was remanded in custody until yesterday for psychiatric reports.

Philip Hall, prosecuting, told yesterday's hearing that Mr Jones became unhealthily obsessed with Miss Strachan in April 1989. The "unwelcome and unsavoury" communications included cuttings from pornographic magazines and a postcard of murdered ex-Beatle John Lennon with the words: "Work it out for yourself".

Two psychiatrists agreed in reports to the hearing that Jones was suffering from chronic schizophrenia.

Ordering his indefinite detention, Judge Sean Duncan said: "It fulfils my duty to the public to see that you do not continue to be a danger outside to young women such as Michaela Strachan."

I haven't got a clue Garry but I'll try and find out. I honestly don't know the medical history of this guy but if he is still inside then he's one hell of an unlucky guy. If he hadn't sent the threatening letter in the first place, he might never have been locked up? Thats fate for you.
