I would agree that the wannaplates who get a plate and become a gottaplate in the main want to stop the plates and thus you argument would suggest an increase in the number of wannaplates claiming that it was somehow unfair that they couldn't become a gorraplate and would have to remain a wannaplate. Those who have gorraplate and then insist on capping plates were at some time a wannaplate and before they become a gorraplate the council should have implemented higher standards which would have discounted them in many cases from becoming a gorraplate as they may not have met the criteria.

The simple fact of the matter is that how ever the trade is regulated, and I think we agree that somehow it should be, there will still be a large number of wannaplates who will claim that somehow the system is unfair as it excludes them from becoming a gorraplate.

I hope I have made my point clearly.

I'm not sure what you mean, but what I mean is that there seems to be some surprise that once the wannaplates have got one then they act like the gorraplates and want the numbers recapped, but my point is that they're both generally driven by the same instinct - self-interest - thus the stance of the wannaplates once they become gorraplates is unsurprising.

What if when the wannaplates actually get a plate and sign up to all sorts of finance, and then find that they're in the middle of an oversupply situation, which results in them working longer hours for less money, would it not just be an act of survival???

Perhaps, but my point is that they would try to get numbers recapped whatever happened.

Human nature, innit? :?
