BRISTOL INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES OPEN
TENDER FOR TAXI/PRIVATE HIRE CAR SERVICE

Bristol International Airport has today announced that it is to put out its airport taxi/private hire car service to open tender.

The announcement comes ahead of the current concession expiry date with the new agreement commencing on 1st April 2007.

Commenting on the announcement Simon Preece, Head of Retail Concession at Bristol International Airport said: “Over the last eight to nine years Airportcarz have provided an excellent service to our customers. However, with the expiry of the existing agreement coming up in March 2007, we believe it is both appropriate to look at the wider market, and important to seek the best possible service and standards for our customers by exploring every option for the provision of taxi/private car hire services at Bristol International.”

Expressions of interest for the concession are required in writing by 24th November 2006. All applications should be sent to the Managing Director, Bristol International Airport, BS48 3DY.

I hope they are aware that only HC vehicles can form a rank to wait for work. PH vehicles would need to wait out of public view until the passenger had contacted a licensed operator who could then dispatch a car.

Surely if they require immediate service a queue of HC at the door is the best option.

B. Lucky :D

Not if it's private land and they have a small office there, whats to stop them having a small booking office where they give their name and jump in the next in line?
Our marshall's are to have a PDA so they can enter a booking wirelessly on the computer whilst their stood outside, no need for the punter to even go in the office anymore, it takes 30 secs.

Yes indeed, lets look at Stanstead, where the drivers all leave after less than a year because of the crap pay and 12 hour shifts. :D

Would it surprise anyone as to where all their drivers are now recruited from?

Nope. I did'nt think it would, Polish is the new language on the block.
