JD

JD, I got to admit that is quite a useful way of suggesting a difference of opinion.

Ive read some crap in my time, lets get it straight the cabs are supplying a service to GNERs customers therefore GNER should be grateful for that, not looking for another oppurtunity to get their snouts in the TROUGH.Quote THATCHER [privatisation of the railways would be a privatisation too far] Labour conference overwhelmingly carries motion calling for renationalisation TORY BLAIR ignores it.
If I were a cab drver up there id say no barrier no fees stick it where the sun dont shine or NO CABS 24/7 picket lets kick harris! Would advise all GMB members respect picket line OF COURSE!
WORKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without a doubt licensed vehicles will be picking up from that airport.

The issue is over whether it will be a cab via the barrier, or a PH via a %.

Bundles more money via the %.

Today in Liverpool every available police officer and armed police officer were on duty, this was arranged last week, even though they are not needed today, it was arranged so they are there,,, the airport is a war, the first battle was to get the airport back around the negotiation table, this has been won without a shot being fired,,, No demonstration .
but the war will go on, and we will have to see what happens next ????

I know Tony woodley our general secretary and Graham Stevensen .The our national organise were taking a personal interest in this dispute. They were even joining us, in the protest. Did they put pressure on the local cab trade? Worried about jobs at the airport , the ones they care about, baggage handlers, cleaners’ security guards etc. We will never Know .I say again its a climb down .The Liverpool cab trade don’t want Permits, Barriers, training courses or any thing else for that matter. There is nothing to discuss. Should be some fun in the new year. Regards streetcars

I am also under the impression that they do not want to be sitting on the outside of the airport while the private hire are on the inside making all money, you don't cut your nose off to spite your face......

, I think Woodley might be remembering Gate Gourmet where the T&G swallowed the sacking of Branch Secs who organised secondary action, the union paid the officials off £200 000, was mentionedThe battle must be won, who is the PHV company we might have contact with them and be able to exert some pressure. If we can help we will.
ORGANISE ORGANISE ORGANISE!

There are certain peopl in the hackney trade in Liverpool who have a good working relationship with the Liverpool private hire, you must remember that the Hackney Trade and private here have been working together for 20 years, they still have little fights but civilised ones.. so they have a good idea when they're being told a load of bull, for example...PTS stated to Liverpool council that they have a long experience in these matters, working with permits regarding the hackney trade...... but the funny thing is when you check them out through company house they only came into existence in August 2006 .....( thank you captain)....... strange old world isn't it ..p.s...Tommy has many friends, and they have many contracts, all of those contracts are helping or will help, the GMB through Pat in Manchester are already involved..........

Assuming Peel holdings are not making it all up and there is a Private hire company, waiting in the wings. At a guess I would say no Liverpool Private hire company, would even contemplate taking the airport work, away from the hackney trade. So my moneys on a very rich company, already operating at other airports. regards streetcars .

There are two national ones that would jump at the chance.

Not sure where they would get the drivers from though. :?
