what do you do when at the front of the rank stands a shed, well it is 10 years old, sorry a van type taxi, punters come up look at it and walk away, sometimes the driver is nodding off, so the punters don't disturb him, sometimes he has got his dinner laid out on the cab dash, talk about eating out.

this happened 4 times on Saturday night and twice last night, when I was behind him, some of the lads are getting upset, some of the jobs are known jobs, ie. we know where they are going and can be decent fares, so the "shed" infront at the taxi header just had a punter hover then walk away or wait, then up comes a known decent fare he gets in the shed, when he should have had those punters that hovered then walked, so the cab on No 2 slot gets a crap job

what should we do, get the tw*t to get out of his cab [he never ever gets out of his cab, even has a bottle for relieving himself and does this inside his cab] and at least stand near his loading door so to show them it is a taxi and hey look I have opened the door for you

should we tell the driver face to face we are not happy with his knock backs and to get a grip.

What used to be the rule, was that unless the driver in front had a good enough reason to refuse then he had to go to the back of the queue.

In this instance he seems to be cherry picking - personally I would approach this guy, but not aggressively. Point out to him that others are passing comment and complaining about what is going on, explain to him on the rank he cannot be doing that or he is going to end up getting in to trouble/reported.

If he adopts the attitude of go on then report me, then do just that - at the end of the day he is taking money out of your pocket. I am not a snitch, but by the same token nobody is going to bully me or take money from what is basically the family coffers.

P.S why are you not sending the punters back to his car - this has happened to me in the past, and it is sorry mate, car in front please. He will soon get the message.

Regards John

Just explain to him, that if he wants to sleep go home, if he wants to eat go home, and if he is on the rank he is there to work, otherwise go home.

Eeeeew, I bet it smells lovely in there mixed in with his take away food stench.

If the punters are walking past him to the 2nd car I would say sorry you need to get the first car.

If he doesn't want the fare I would then stand next to his vehicle ushering every other fare past him too.

If you're working work, if not f#ck off home.

You really need idiots like this dragging the trade down, it's not like we've got a great reputation anyway.

I know we have a laugh about the tw*t, not only does it stink in the inside but on the outside useing some cheap chip fat oil to run the cab diesel engine

only the other night I was talking to him, through his cab windows, I said I can smell cooking whats going on, He said its my soup brewing

no its not about cherry picking, its just punters won't get in his cab[shed] as they should when ranked,he's only been on the job 12 months and doesn't give a sh*t about his appearance or the state of his cab

He a nasty bar steward, reminds me of the Royle family on tv [Jim Royle], my arse

well I think it will will me who will approach him tonight and have words on behalf of other hacks, lets see what happens

FFS - someone tell him! If not just report him to LO and let them deal with it! If he is bringing the trade into disrepute then they are the people to deal with it! We have a similar situation round here with a guy that can't seem to get his meter off R4 :? he will learn when everyone gets fed up of the " he requested me"; "they'll only use this office", "female driver requested" etc its only when you say to their face (and I've still got mine ... need to check I've still got four inflated tyres thou!) at 5 am this morning - "they won't get in your cab cos you stink and they think they might catch something - soz hun but thats a £80 quid fare you just lost hun" Every where has one - just hold him down, hose him down or pin a notice on his back!! LOL Seriously thou have a word with your LO and see if they can make him see sense!
