Well, well, well I never.

Is that not what I told you and your ilk on Mr Fosters list many moons back when you were advocating and preaching your wishy washy PH / HC parochial arangements for London? Remember how you all jumped up and down and kicked your legs Rumple Stiltskin like when it was pointed out you knew nothing of the issue.

Remember also that is why Mr Foster was sent packing from the London list when he tried to preach his backwoods knowledge to thr metropolis

Ha ha what a laugh.

And quite right too Wharfy.

However it has been proposed on here and elsewhere, that people who bought on the grey market should be compensated.

I don't agree, but others do.

My point is, that any such money would have to come out of the public purse. Hence what chance is there of persuading the public to compensate for something that was issued for nothing?

Also anyone who does not hold a Hackney Drivers Licence will have any plates revoked and only one plate per licencee will be issued.

It's a start, and perhaps if this was the outcome of the 1985 Act, we wouldn't be in the (in my view) mess we are.

The thing with the premium, is that it will always exist, until such a time as it doesn't. I know that's bloody obvious, but I can't see a workable alternative.

In Scotland, the transferal of plates is outlawed. But you still have drivers leaving the trade, in some councils and renting out their plates. You have some drivers, in some councils in-corperating their plates into a company, and then leaving that company to those who have bought the plate. And then you have a few that up hold the wording of the law, and don't allow any of that.

In short, we are back to that mess.

I'm also not too sure that restricting the trade to the trade, would be permitted under Euro law.

The only way to get those out of the trade that aren't working in it, is to get rid of what brings them into it.

So then the council go down the rank and say to the licence holders 'and how much did you pay for your licence, we'd like to reimburse you'.

'Well Guv, we did 25K through the books, 20K in cash, and another £50 quid a week for two years'.

The whole thing is bent and needs to be eradicated. It encourages lazy drivers who think because they have put their hand in their pocket, they have a devine right to have punters queuing up waiting for them.

In my area we have had free access and we haven't been swamped. The rapid growth that Mick talks about is clearly an indicator of how the market had been constricted previously. The rapid expansion will be followed by a settling down period and the then the fittest will survive and the toss pots won't.

Better supervision of the trade and the eradication of the black market element are the key factors IMHO.

OK I will get my coat.

Yes, I know plenty of people with a hackney badge in the drawer, and have several drivers in their car while they get on with their 'real' job, and the latter can't get their own plate.

In fact I drove for one such person, he said he needed his plate in case of emergencies - ie if he lost his 'real' job.

What on earth does "the brainwashing of Mick is almost complete" mean Wharfie.

I learn something new every day, I search to learn more. Funny really that I learn less from people who think they know more.

Claude baby, was I not pointing out that P/H and H/C co-exist quite happily in some areas outside of London. Didn't my jumping up and down, kicking and screaming not start when you called P/H drivers all over the country worse than scum. Very unlike you to have selective memory.

There you go again more lies. But as it was phrased as a question no I don't think I did call PH up and down the country worse than scum. In London I called them back door parasites, or something like. That was London.

And no your weren't just pointing out the arrangement outside of London I say again what you were preaching

"....you were advocating and preaching your wishy washy PH / HC parochial arangements for London? Remember how you all jumped up and down and kicked your legs Rumple Stiltskin like when it was pointed out you knew nothing of the issue. "

Sorry to interrupt on here, but I do think that both HC and PH will (and to a small degree, at the mo do) work together in the future.

The enemey of both the fully licensed HC and PH London trade, is the un-licensed, un-checked mini-cab touts.

When speaking to the very few registered PH drivers I know, they hate the touts as much as the HC boys.

Hardly. I am a superior Londoner. Urbane man of the world me mate. Surely that is evident how I handle these straw sucking suckers. Unlike W C Fields I give em an even break.

BTW where is Gateshead and Wigan? Do they feature on the map? I must have a look.

Does that Viz cartoon “The Fat Slags” come from one of this area’s? I think Nigel often picks them up. “Give us a feel of your crutch big boy”.

Or crotch.

There are I'm that urbane I know the difference between having a feel-up of a support for walking and a pants, gus, support. (When I see it written down.)

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
