as stated in a early post I drove limos in 1999 -2000, I am still in touch with them all, some of my fellow drivers have gone on a own their own limos, so I do have a insite. Dont take credit for getting them their licence. They went to their council and got them to licence them without the NLA, or any ones elses help.In fact the NLA said dont bother use 7 day contract. I do hate people trying to be the big I am when they wernt even there or consulted. Fact

Mr T , thats absolutely untrue and is just garbage punted out by ill advised ppl.
Thanks for the answer mate, it was a licensing officer that gave me that bit of information, I personally respect anybody that provides a professional service in their own field of transport.

2 WHAT IS HIRE OR REWARD?
Hire or reward is any sort of payment which gives a person a right to be carried on a vehicle
regardless of whether a profit is made or not. The payment may be made by the person
himself, or on his behalf and may be a direct payment (such as a fare or other payment
made directly in respect of the journey) or an indirect payment (such as a membership
subscription to a club, payment for a bed in a hotel, school fees or payment for concert
tickets). Although such indirect payments are usually made in respect of other services
(rather than for transport) they are nonetheless viewed by the courts as hire or reward
because anyone who had not made the payment would have no right to be carried.

The paperwork would expressly not give anyone that right

But that's the point, the driver doesn't have to get paid.

So even if he wasn't paid he still needs to be licensed. The vehicle still needs to be licensed and somewhere in that pot an operator needs to take a booking.

The reason we need an operator is because there needs to be a record so that VOSA can check that PSV laws and regs are being adhered too.

TBH when this thread started I couldn't have given a monkeys about this, but the more it goes on the more it seems that the limo trade are acting in a slippery way trying to dodge here and dodge there.

IMO it's about time they started to grow up. [-X

The view of the limo trade from those in authority is not that high. Spending a lot of money loophole hunting merely confirms that.

All this I can't tell you why, and this bloke pays, but this bloke books, and this bloke drives, and this bloke owns but doesn't do anything, is medieval.

I really thought the limo trade was doing it's best to come and join us in the 21st century, but it appears the spivs want to remain in the past. And TBH the past isn't where you should be.
