I presume he was licensed and CRB checked, didn't do much good there.

I think the issue is that what he was able to do then i.e. carry on working, he wouldn't be able to do now because a united taxi/PH trade sort of agreed that that needed sorting.

Why is it I have had to have THREE separate CRB checks just because I live and work or the border of three authorities. They will all accept a licence from elsewhere (for cross border contracts) but will not accept CRB checks from adjoining authorities. Yet another complete cock up that lands at the door of the guy just trying to earn a living.

I think we are agreed on that.

In fact I also have to have three seperate checks for three seperate things I do, thankfully the only one I have to pay for is the PH version.

But a national one off CRB has got to be the way forward.

The ELA and NLcA are at this moment in talks with VOSA etc to develope a system for limousines, is this not good enough?

It is a step forward, but if that's the case why do you need to use a loophole in the law, if indeed it is? :?

I don't doubt for a second that you are a good guy, but surely the best way to sort things is to get the gov,VOSA, DfT et al to sort any new rules first before they are used.

All those court cases I posted a while back are basically insurance companies trying to get out of paying, and they won everytime, and passengers lost everytime.

Wrong answer Graduate..one licence will never do....upto 8 is completely different from over 8 people being carried. and should always stay so. for mini bus or limo or anything else.
Once again you are being compleatly selfish only wanting what suits you. But if you get your way it would affect everyone, in hire & reward trade.
All the 8 seat limo boys I know about 20 in total do Not want a joint licence to help you out of a hole with your 16 seat things. They are council licensed and are quite happy thank you. That side of the limo industry is sorted and going in the right direction. All you are doing is tagging onto them trying to use there wight in numbers to get you somehow legal in 16 seat limos, which you knew were illegal when you bought them. And at your own admission used a barrister to do somersaults through a loop hole. which reading between the lines you are not 100% certain off.

Graduate, this is just it i dont believe NO TIPS is a taxi driver atall, i think he is one of these staunch 8 seater brigaders that i used to be, until i woke up and smelt the coffee. As we know full well whats going to happen we have decided to do something about it. Lets be honest here and say stuff the people that dont want to listen and look out for ourselves for a change, if these air heads that drive only 8 seaters are happy now and happy to see their businesses go down the swanny very soon, then im of the opinion now after all this to say stuff em, lets not fight their corner anymore and watch em wallow in their own mire when it happens and we can laugh at them. Pity that it has to come to this but hey some people are just too thick to know when people are trying to help them!!!!!!!

There endeth todays lesson on how to treat a complete waster

I will be amazed if any limo seating under 8 passengers is licensed as anything bar a taxi/PH.

If they did then they would open up the flood-gates to those loophole hunters in the taxi/PH brigade.

Over 8 maybe, under 8 I doubt.

Thats the whole point. we have in place a good system which we all know and it works. why should it be changed just to suit the spivs.
The under 8 limos slot in well with PH , most councils have created a new catagory for them as special events , works well, they abide by the normal council rules for all 8 seaters. The drivers have to obtain a PH badge.Even the limo boys are all happy with this.
But this lot who have the over 8 things are out on a limb , they dont fit into the under 8 catergory and there motors Vosa wont recognise with the normal mini bus rules for hire and reward. Their tactics is to frighten all the legal licenced limos to support them in getting one licence for all.It proves they dont give a dam by happily useing this self drive hire scam.
They preach they are doing it for the good for all, ( so did hitler) it is for only one reason to somehow get a legal ticket..
keep trying you have been sussed

New legislation would be able to cater for all types of limos. The only reason limos can only seat 8 people at the moment, is because of the restriction of private hire legislation. Limos are a different category of vehicle and although we all believe they should be licensed, it is my opinion that they should be licensed by a separate body in order that the public and the owners of these vehicles can derive the best possible use.

It's a bit of backward thinking to restrict a vehicle to 8 passengers that can adequately cater for more, just because of outdated legislation.

Regards

JD

But what's a Limo? :?

Is it a bloody long thing, or a smart shorter thing, or a fire-engine, or a Skoda with a nice driver? :?
