Is there any problems with the Peugeot 406 hdi to look out for, as there is one for sale for 5.5k with 26k on the clock on an 03 plate, and what sort of miles per gallon

I think the Peugeot is one of the better diesel engines.

I used to get around 36MPG around town and 48MPG on long runs with the 2.0/90bh HDi. Good work horses, I know some still going at 300k+.
As they are "Lardy" cars the only thing I can say is to look out for faulty Suspension, Anti Roll Bars etc. if buying Used.
Besides that, I cant fault them.

I've now upgraded to a 407 2.0/136bh HDi. Very impressed with the comfort, safety, bigger boot space and 58MPG in 6th at 70MPH!!

I,ve been looking at a few cars at the moment and that seems a good price as long as everything is o.k with the car :?: I have a mondeo at the minute and cannot fault them but i must admit the octavia was the best for m.p.g and repairs but the space inside was a bit cramped"especially with the smelly fatties in" If you hear anything about the vectras please let me know as i used to swear by vauxhalls, but have not had a vauxhall for about 12 years
