question : why won't the trade stand together ?
answer: cause greed rules the roost !
we are probably the backbone of the nation's conveyance sector and yet we accept evry bullying tactic our la's produce! is it not time to show this country what devastating affect that could be incurred if the trade from top to bottom of the country refused to turn a key and for once thought of unity rather than currency ?
and don't give me the one about sole trader's eye's flashing with pound sign's ! i gotta way round that !

bring it on boys !

I don't see any reason why bullying tactics should work in an unrestricted authority, such as your own? To what are you referring or are you speaking in general terms?

The Taxi trade is fragmented and many prefer the way councillors do business on the other hand people like me want to see licensing taken out of the hands of councillors. Those who wish to see licensing retained by councillors obviously think they are doing a good job.

We do indeed but its a pity that many in this Taxi trade are too preoccupied with self interest. Even if the trade was united I wouldn't like to guess what percentage would join any action, no matter what the cause?

Councils only bully when they can get away with it, so the name of the game is to not let them get away with it.

Easier said than done, but if you keep banging on at them in time things will get better. It also helps when the LOs retire and die.

Talking from experience the taxi trade they are only interested in the next fare.

We have an association with an AVERAGE membership. BUT as soon as there is a problem they {ALL THE NON MEMBERS} give it the old what is the P.L.T.A {Plymouth Licensed Taxi Association} doing for us.

The cost to be in the P.L.T.A is a poxy £6 a month if you do not get that in tips a WEEK then get out of the trade

I think sometimes the worse thing that can be done is to ask for money from drivers. Not because it's wrong, but because they then think they own you.

If they don't pay then you own them when they want help and advice, and if they want to go to court, then they pay for it.

All this I keep hearing about certain unions bailing you out is not what I see with my own eyes. If they think you will win then they will front up, but if they think you will lose, they cut and run.

We have a certain John Preece in our area if we did not have the P.L.T.A we would NOT have a TAXI trade.

Our {lack of enforcement} officers are no good so it is down to the few to pay for the protection of the many.

As i'm sure it's the same in your area as well because this is a NATIONAL problem.

I'm sure you understand that if we ALL stuck together as a UNIFIED TRADE central goverment would sit up and take notice.

Not an answer, but the problems we have is that the trade is being run by control freaks living in their ivory towers.

Sadly I think that's going to be the way it stays.

Who is the "we" all? And how are you defining the Taxi Trade? And what is disunified about the Taxi trade? And why?

Doesn't every problem have a solution? Maybe not? lol

In respect of the Taxi trade, what's so significant about the John Preece factor?
