BTW, I don't support rickshaws. I merely try and tell it how it is and not how others may want it to be.

No, once again SAFETY is relative....

Every thing is a death trap under the wrong conditions even a taxi/ph vehicle.

I think your real point is that they are competing with you for work and that is your real concern. It has nothing to do with the safety of their passangers....

Wrong again - they are no competition - but as you will only ever see this issue as a personal weapon against me - go back to you're own insane little world and believe what you want - I don't actually care about your opinion :-|

You state that Rickshaws are “no competition” but fail to tell us what mode of transport the traveling public would use if there were no Rickshaws….

You also state in your previous post:

So why not explain to us all; how Rickshaws are not competing for your work while charging twice as much to carry passengers “from one end of George St to the other”, a “half mile journey”, no less?

As I said the rickshaws aren't competition - look at their customers - drunk girls on hen nights, drunks blokes on stag nights, drunk blokes trying to impress a girl by getting her in the back of one and drunk blokes trying to impress their mates by having a laugh. No one uses them as a straightforward means of getting from A to B. :roll:

Like you Double T, they are nothing more than a simple source of amusement, and not serious competition.

I note with all this "banter" :twisted:

that as ever you went on the personal attack and carefully sidestepped the issue at the top of this thread, which was that rickshaws are dangerous. :roll:

So what do you have to say on that issue - both the vehicles and the licensing regime (or lack there of) that applies to them :-|

I don’t see how you can stop them on safety issues. As I have said before; safety is relative. They would simply point to other modes of transport as I have done.

You would end up having to ban the hiring of motor bikes, mopeds, bicycles, smart cars and the like. The fact that you can have an experienced driver operating these vehicles actually adds to their safety.

No TC, I think motorised rickshaws are just around the corner. The peddle type was just a means of paving the way into Edinburgh and other Cities.

BTW, If they hit the streets of Edinburgh any time soon you will know all about how serious the competition is.
