I for one have never had any bother with a passenger who smoked too many fags

Never had any aggro admitted, but seen loads of holes in back seats caused by them.

I'm not saying passengers should have an automatic right to smoke in your cab, but its your cab and the decision should be yours not jack mcconnell or tony blair's :)

What about the non smoker who uses your cab after you have let someone else smoke?

Nice answer. I look forward to reading the thread when you are complaining about the £2000 fine that you have been hit with.

I didn't say I was breaking the law. I just don't believe its right. Basic freedom seems to have been swept aside for the sake of what's politically correct. That's a dangerous road to go down. Whats next? Fast Food probably kills far more people than second hand fag smoke. Salt causes high blood pressure, a major killer in the western world. Alcohol causes many diseases including cirrhosis of the liver & heart disease. All major drains on the NHS. Our exhaust fumes are far from healthy either (even if they do pass emission tests) and they are damaging the planet. The health nazis will feel emboldened so LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER. Next personal freedom to bite the dust may be something that affects you! :x

OK thats my last rant on the subject
Free speech like this may be on their list as well.

Maybe the council should sponsor drivers to go to anti-smoking clinics.

Methinks checking ash trays is a tad extreme, but I still hate smoking.

i am a non smoker myself but i would be annoyed if they stopped me and picked up on a fag end lying on the floor, they tend to stick to peoples shoes and end up on your floor, two problems you guys will experience, one is a customer aproaching your cab while smoking, on arriving at your taxi they take one last usually massive draw on the fag before throwing it away then exhale all the smoke while in your taxi ,you will experience this on the first day of the ban, the second which is just appearing in dundee now is passengers getting in your taxi and asking to smoke(£200)fine, when refused they tell you that a previous driver let them as long as they let him smoke, i picked up a fare who said if they knew i was a non smoker they wouldnt get in my taxi, there are only a small handfull of drivers who let passengers smoke in their taxi and hopefully they will be dealt with rapidly

Dundee wav, I wonder if anyone will challenge the law, as the ones who brought it in will still be able to smoke in the house of commons, one rule for them and another for us
