Wars and conflicts.

I’ve often been critical of organisations and associations that purport to represent the taxi trade as a whole, when in effect they represent no one but themselves and perhaps a minority of individuals that might happen to share a limited point of view, which is normally based on vested interests.

This is not to say that the views of these people should not be represented because they should but I think we would all agree that these organisations shouldn’t go around purporting to represent the Taxi trade as a whole, when in effect, they do not.

So why do they do it? Lol

Your guess is as good as mine?

For most of the time there is "war and conflict" between many of these organisations, such as the present situation between the NTA and the GMB. If anyone from these organisations I allude to would like to inform us why they like to give the impression they represent the taxi trade as a whole and what qualifications they have for doing so, then I am sure we will all be grateful for their explanation?

Regards

JD

Is there a war ......................... or would some just like encouraging conflict so neither organisation focused on the activity of individuals.

As far as representing the Taxi Trade ................ I can't remember anything about exclusivity to members on anything other than benefits.

My own experience is that everything I had worked towards benefited the whole trade .................... more ranks, tariff increases etc .................. however what I would agree with is the fact that the decisions about what activities were undertaken were made by the members who were present at the meeting called to discuss the issues.

To quote Mr Flanagan ................ "decisions are made by those that turn up" ....................... if you want a union or association to undertake anything on your behalf then join and make your proposals ........................ representative groups are not mind readers YOU NEED TO TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO DO

B. Lucky :D

Well there seems to be a price war on benefits, which in my view is more than a tad pathetic.

If I was considering joining a union/association, and I am a member of a few, the last thing that would matter to me would be any fringe benefits.

I want people at the top to put across sensible policies, and be there to back me up should I need it.

I couldn't give a flying f*** about cheap insurance, cab aid, accountants etc, as I have a brain and can work out for myself who and what is best for me.

I'm not quite sure he would adhere to what I would tell him to do.

Well there's certainly only one individual around who claims to AGITATE, and a pretty good job he does as well, if you don't mind me saying

Problem is, it usually backfires :D
