Plymouth taxi drivers especially you 222222 crowd, can i just remind those of you who are clearly blind and dont know the highway code, that as you come along Risdon Ave in Prince Rock and want to go on to Laira Bridge Road, this is a NO RIGHT TURN, into the oncoming traffic, i appreciate its a pain in the rear end having to go up and around cattedown roundabout but there is an obvious reason as to why it is illegal to turn right!!!! Just last evening one of Preeces crowd in a 222222 taxi nearly took me off my motorbike and yes if you read this forum you will know who you are as you were not so big outside your taxi were you!!!!! I appreciate most of you adhere to the law so this post is purely to serve as a warning to those who clearly dont, If ever there is a next time i will report the matter to the council, Mr Preece, and indeed the police!!!!

C'mon kermit, we've all swung a dodgy right there or at many other locations, although I must admit it's usually when there's no real large amount of traffic about.

I suppose this thread brings us on to the wider subject of professional taxi drivers. We constantly hear the phrase "professonal taxi driver" but no one has so far explained exactly what attributes one needs to become a professional taxi driver? I wonder how many of those drivers who blatenly disregard road traffic signs view themselves as professional taxi drivers?

Regards

JD

And how many professional taxi/PH drivers have never exceeded the speed limit.

But the law is the law.

traffic rules are there for a reason we have a crossroads controlled by traffic lights with no left turn for traffic coming up from the town to enable pedestrians to cross I've lost track of how many times pedestrians have been nearly knocked down by cars illegally turning left !

We have a no right turn in the centre of Manchester which is for buses only, yet you would be surprised at the number of cabs and ordinary motorists who disobey this road sign.

When I see these drivers making these illegal maneuvers I often wonder if they can be counted as professional Cab drivers, or do such illegal actions disqualify them from being called professional cab drivers?

I suspect many of these blatent law breakers read Taxi Talk magazine, which as we all know is the magazine of the professional cab driver but can we really say there is such a thing as a professional cab driver and if so, what is it, and how is it defined?

If I told you how many Manchester Trade reps had turned right at this "no right turn," I doubt you would believe me? lol

Regards

JD
