Women convicted of taxi robbery

Two women threatened to cry rape unless a Luton taxi driver handed over his takings, a court has heard.

Carlie Clark, 19, and Selina Dunning robbed Muhummed Laqib after he picked them up in Welwyn Garden City, Herts.

Dunning, 24, of Margery Wood, Welwyn Garden City, was convicted of robbing Mr Laqid at St Albans Crown Court.

Clark, of Atheletan Walk, Welwyn Garden City, pleaded guilty to robbery at a previous hearing. The pair are due to be sentenced on 13 September.

Mr Laqib, who works for Anglia cars, told jurors how Dunning warned him: "Whatever your takings are tonight you are going to give them to me or I am going to make a noise you raped me."

When Mr Laqib replied "Go on then", Clark, who was sitting in the back of the cab, tried to strangle him with a belt, while Dunning went through his pockets.

But the taxi driver managed to struggle free, grabbed his ash tray which held his takings and ran up the road.

And what will happen? a smack on the wrist, some drug rehabilitation and a rise in benifits no doubt

The one who pleaded guilty will get a third off.

But I would hope they get more than six months.

I am fortunate that this has not happened to me yet,but it has happened to one or two drivers i know, and they have given in through fear of being dragged through the courts and therefore have let the offender walk free of fare.

We are in a job where it is one persons word against our own(and most of the time they are p"ssed)so lets start standing up for ourselves
