If you wanted to sell your licensed vehicle to a private buyer would you need to then get the car MOT'd before the sale?

No, but he would need one to use it on the road. As would you if it were no longer licenced

No is the answer but If the buyer wanted to drive the licensed vehicle then they would need the appropriate license to drive it.

Each licensing area has its own requirement with regards to MOT, some say in house MOT's are more stringent but others might dispute that.

Would I be correct in saying that if the LA require both, then you have to have both.

Yes. Ours no longer issue compliance cert. but we still have 2 tests per year at the hackney (which are stiffer) as well as MOT.

Well your LA is as thick as pigs s***.

They must have asked for the opt-out from the MOT lark, for them to have been granted permission to use compliance certificates.

So WTF do they now want both? :-k
