i was witness to a bizare argument today,on the rank was 4 vehicles ,2 wav and 2 saloons,a elderly lady came along in a wheelchair from the rear of rank and approached the taxis,on this rank theres a an agreement between drivers that 1st vehicle has 1st job but in this case it was a saloon followed by a wav,the wav driver got out to the lady and asked if she stayed in the wheelchair or if she had the wheelchair folded in which the lady replied oh i get out and the wheelchair is folded, the wav driver replied ill speak to the driver in front as he's 1st job,the wav driver explained to the car in front that the lady was mobile and she folded the wheelchair did he want the job,the car driver got out in a real mood folded the wheelchair put it in his boot with ease while the lady walked to the front of his car unaided and got in ,at this point a heated argument took place between the drivers as the car driver accused the wav driver of stitching him up and fetching the lady to him,the wav driver replied look i asked if you wanted the job as you were 1st rank and she folds the chair if not ill take it,the car driver replied your the wav you should of taken it,the wav replied yes but the lady folds the chair so whats the difference between me folding the chair putting it in the back or you folding it and putting it in your boot,at this point the other drivers tried to explain to the car driver that the wav never refused the job he was just offering the job to him as the chair folded and he was 1st rank,at this point with the lady still sat in the car waiting for her driver the wav driver said look just go away and pushed the car driver away and walked away and left the car driver still mumbling and cursing, now who in this case was right ,the wav driver to offer up the job because he was second rank and didnt want to be accused of jumping jobs or the car driver who put the chair in the boot but still stated a wav should of done the job :?

So the first one has still got her wheelchair in his boot, or did she come back for it
You should have sent her to the first car and if he refused he could have been done under the disability rules and regs, unless he came and ask you to do it if she could not get out of the chair

 no the w/chair and passenger were both taken by a very unhappy car driver :x ,so in this case the wav was correct by going by the drivers agreement as i thought,if the person was wheelchair bound the argument would never of took place,in this case the car driver did not really want the job and was spouting nonsence

I would be inclined to let the LO sort this out.

The lad at the front has got the hump cos he is a lazy sod and the lads behind him have got the hump cos the lad at the front is a lazy sod.

The way the LO is likely to be inclined to sort this out, Sussex, is to recommend to the council that they go 100% WAV.

It never fails to surprise me how thick some drivers, (Hack or PH) can be.

Just an everyday tale from an area with a mishmash of vehicle types, by the sounds of it.

We certainly have a "mishmash" of vehicles here, but no wheelchair work on the ranks, however there's still plenty of bickering.

A lot of people walk past the minibuses and the like to get into the saloons, problem is it's usually the local runs.

So they pi$$ me off because I'd prefer to wait for a chance at a decent run and they pi$$ the minibus driver off because he no doubt thinks it's a £30 run he's missed

As ever, we all think the grass is greener on the other side.

I probably should have written a bit more in that last post. It sounds irrelevant. It is my first WAV, and BTW I plated it for Glenrothes, Fife.

It's the first one in the area. Very happy with it.
