What a load of bollocks, I know lots of people who are friends of mine that have nothing in life,(((((((((((( as far as material things))))))))) who thoroughly enjoy their lives and make the most out of every day, you're the one that is obsessed with being a failure, let it go, get on with your life, one day you'll find out what really is important in your life, and it will not be a licence, it might be your daughter.

Back to the issue, is there anyone one out there that believes what is happening to the chap is fair and right?

And if it is true, and I suspect it is, I wonder how many contracts that firm has with the council/social services/hospitals/schools/gov department?

I am not agreeing with the way the company has behaved in this case but look at it from this point of view.

One of your employees decides to set up in business and start his own company, it doesn't matter how small to begin with, doing the same work as you are doing. Would you let him continue working for you with access to all your hard won customers with all the revenue that this could loose you?

What happens when the next one does the same of 10 of them get together and do the same. How much of the company business do you loose before you take a stand.

It is easy to say that this guy has been badly treated and the situation could have been handled differently.

Like I said I am not agreeing with it but just putting another view on it.

City Cabs have just done us all a favour by showing the trade what the true value of a driver is. Well, theirs at least for the moment. But I warrant that many drivers will looking at their own situation very carefully.

I wonder how many of them sitting at the Sunday dinner tomorow will look around them, look at their family, think about their debt levels and realise that the whole illusion is dependent on the whim of the owner they drive for. I wonder how secure they will feel. How secure their wives feel.

I wonder how many will then realise that their only real security lies in operating their own taxi, freed from the control of stupid owners.

When City Cabs binned MacDonald, particular given the cowardly way they did it, they did more to emancipate drivers in this trade than the Skull and Taylor ever could have.

I guess we owe them a debt of gratitude so, thanks boys.

Except who said MacDonald would ever have competed with City Cabs to take their work from them? Indeed, isn't it more likely he would have wanted to stay in the "family" and buy or rent a radio set?

No, there has to be another explanation for City Cabs' appalling actions.

TC, don't we all know how disagreeable it is for owners to lose their £50K plate value. And for them losing their drivers because they can operate cheaper operating their own taxi, while benefitting from the greater job security their rental arrangements deny them.
