from what ive managed to gather the council said that the situation at fat sams is all above board , cars sitting on private land alegedly being booked from inside fat sams, the rest could be down to a rather irate chairman, although they are picking up on the steets they are doing it on the quiet , which wouldnt make sense if they were allowed to, its hard to get the correct info as everything is hearsay, pity dundee didnt have an official board up in the offices, maybe then the dta chairman can tell everyone what happened at the cctv meeting a few months ago, talking about mixed lines there was a cracker on radio forth this morning, a poor guy in fife fell from a quarry ,he tried to walk home but fell and died of his injuries, radio forths 10 am bulletin, police found a dead body by the roadside, their is no suspicious circumstances, a police spokesman said the man fell to his death in a quarry then tried to walk home
all other reports were quickly corrected

forgot to mention dundee has what they call limited advertising on ph vehicles which probabaly accounts for the massive signs on the ph vehicles doors

It was a bizarre accident - the man crashed his car, tried to walk home but fell to his death in a quarry - so it's maybe not surprising that some lines got crossed :?

Taxi drivers’ strike threat

By Brian Allison, local government reporter

DUNDEE TAXI drivers are threatening peak-time strike action or clogging up of city centre commuter car parking spaces.

Simmering discontent within the taxi trade has resulted in a mass meeting of taxi owners and drivers being called for Tuesday.

The aim is to address concerns about the operation of city council licensing polices, in particular a claimed failure to properly enforce restrictions on the private hire car sector.

The meeting has been called by representatives of three organisations in the city—the Dundee Taxi Association, the Dundee Wheelchair Taxi Association and the Transport and General Workers’ Union.

Notices being distributed to owners and drivers call for a large turnout and claim the future of the taxi trade in Dundee is at stake.

Dundee Taxi Association chairman Graeme Stephen said there was widespread unrest within the taxi trade and fears for people’s livelihoods because of the way the private hire sector was being allowed to operate.

He cited use of an unauthorised rank, touting for fares and taking verbal bookings among the main concerns.

Mr Stephen said it was known a lot of people were worried about the future of the taxi trade and the meeting was an attempt to find out the strength of feeling and what the members of the trade wanted done about it.

Depending on the outcome of the meeting, he said strike action at one of the busiest times of the weekend was a possibility, as was taxis taking up long-stay car parking spaces in the city centre as a way of highlighting their concerns.

Strike action could involve taxis refusing to work from midnight or 1am on a Saturday night/Sunday morning, leaving thousands of revellers stranded in the city centre.

The meeting is scheduled to be held in the Dee Club on Tuesday, starting at 7.15pm.

A spokesman for the city council said they would await the outcome of the meeting before making any comment.

The alleged breaking of rules in the Dundee Taxi Trade with 203020 private hire being accused as the villains is nothing short of a disgrace,it's about time these idiot cabbies got on with their sad life's and really looked at the problems in the trade.

Fact 1. How many Wheelchair Ops out there got their Badges by attending 203020 driver training classes then when successfull dumped 203020 and moved on.

Fact 2. Traditional Hackneys how many of their drivers came from the same source as above.

Fact 3. Why do we have reresentative's who demanded that Dundee City Council include TAX REFERENCE NUMBERS ON BOTH OPERATORS & DRIVERS RENEWAL & NEW APPLICATION FORMS ??

Finally if Private Hire is such a problem to Stephens & Thorsen then why did they trade at one time with PRIVATE HIRE LICENSES ?
