WIRRAL BC has recently issued a 'reminder' to the area's private hire and taxi drivers.
The letter reminds drivers; not to operate without insurance, not to illegally ply for hire, not to sound horns when arriving for pre-booked pick-ups.
Then, the letter goes on...
"Residents have again expressed their concerns about persistent over-ranking by hackney carriages in Liscard, particularly on the Wallasey Road rank outside the Clairville. Cabs regularly rank up around the corner from the official rank into Moseley Avenue. This is a narrow residential street and this action causes problems for residents and could result in an accident. Please ensure that you do not obstruct Moseley Avenue at any time."
The sole reason that taxis are over-ranking in the Wirral licensing area is because
Wirral BC adopted a policy of 100% delimitation, seeing the number of taxis rise from 126 to well over 300 in the space of five years. At the same time, no extra - usable - rank spaces are provided.
The council then send this letter out reminding taxi drivers not to over-rank. These drivers are working longer hours than ever before, struggling to make a living. Long standing taxi drivers are leaving the trade and the council still have the cheek to send out this letter.
WIRRAL BC have destroyed the taxi trade and ultimately destroyed people's livelihoods.
Yet another survey has been carried out and the result....
There is still a small level of unmet demand.
So, on the strength of the survey's findings, the local authority will continue to issue plates.
I want to continue this posting, but I'm going to leave it at this before I make any accusations. I'd like to hear people's responses.
