"Our dying dad had to take a taxi to hospice".

A DYING man was taken by taxi to a hospice after his family say they were told he would have to wait 11 hours for an ambulance.

Terminally-ill Dennis Green, 77, was in 'terrible pain' when a consultant said he should be admitted immediately. But his family claim they were told he would have to wait for non-emergency NHS transport - so his sons carried him to a taxi rank instead. He was taken to St Ann's Hospice in Little Hulton, Salford, where he died the following day.

An investigation has now been launched by health chiefs and Eccles MP Ian Stewart has raised the matter in Parliament. He said: "For them to be told there would be no ambulance available from the time they phoned, around 1pm, until midnight is disgraceful.

More evidence of when everyone else has let down the good folks of this country, they can always rely on the taxi/PH trade.

In other words this country would be f***ed without us.

A widow has been talking about how her terminally-ill husband had to be
taken to hospice by taxi, because of delays in NHS transport.
