The point made was, as gusmac and MrT have stated, if your going to use facts they have to be correct facts.

And this takes more than a google by an idiot.

I do not have a problem with you or anyone criticising the facts, if you disagree with them. I do have a problem in the manner of your attack which is disgusting. The individual concerned has spent a lot of time putting together this information in his own time, which hopefully will benefit GMB members and all drivers in our industry.

To call this individual an idiot is bang out of order.

Regards

BB

The list should still have been checked BB. Mistakes like these will undermine the credibility of what you are trying to do.
People in high places will try to find reasons to do nothing, especially if the alternative is to spend time and tax payers money on something they deem as low priority. They would much rather spend budgets on their own pet projects. You shouldn't make it easier for them.

I'm not so sure the nitty gritty needs to be 100% accurate, although it should be aimed for.

If for some reason someone prints/writes/talks about 100 attacks when in fact it's only 99 or 98, then so be it.

I'm quite sure the aim of the collator Don is for that 100 or 99 or 98 to be nil.

I dont disagree, nobody should be attacked when they are at work.

I have driven taxis and PH for 20 years, and touch wood, I havent been attacked once, why is this? My area is higher than the national average for attacks against the person.

Can you train common sense?

As for verbal abuse, this happens of a weekly basis, but I suppose some people have thicker skins, or perhaps like me, people are just plain thick, so long as I get my money I'm happy.

If the person who comprised the list is happy with the facts then fair enough, I merely pointed out some of the facts were misleading or just plain wrong. As for the idiot remark, sorry but I think he's an idiot, although I could change that to buffoon.

Now these benefits, such as training me agaist an attack that might happen but hasnt in twenty years, please tell me what I'm supposed to do if someone pulls a gun and demands my takings, because at this moment I'll give the person with the gun the money, are you suggesting taxi drivers should bravely resist but end up dead?

Or is it more of a cynical ploy to highlight something that no amount of training can actually cure?

You see I'm slightly sceptical on this, I dont think the taxi trade can cure it, sure we can cut down the risks, we can fit cameras, we can fit safes in vehicles or take cash home, we can all do training in karate, but that isnt going to stop the root cause of the problem which is of course the society we live in.

This society has racists, thugs and murderers, we dont know who we pick up and most of the time it's gut instinct that keeps us safe.

If Don wishes to make a useful investigation why doesnt he look at each attack and find out how many of the victims who suffered physical harm were driving purpose built vehicles with fixed partitions my best guess is under 5%. Yet if I were to suggest the government made fixed partitions a standard requirement for every licensed vehicle the biggest opponant would be the taxi and PH trade.....go figure.

My LA allow CCTV, my local associations are seeking funding for cameras, yet I dont want one, why should anyone make me fit something in my vehicle that I dont want?

Code:
30-Dec MERSYSIDE VEHICLE STOLEN

Just in case anybody is interested.... I was getting told about this today..... it seems that the two men in the car with the driver asked him who the car belonged to... he told them it was the firms...... later on they told him to stop take his money and get out, and then they used the car in a couple of smash and grabs later that night.... it was a private hire car the driver is now driving a hackney.

I did'nt call anyone an idiot. I mearly made observations on the list you put up.

There's only two idiots that spring to mind when the GMB is mentioned, and it's neither you or Don Glave.

Calm down dear, it's only a forum.

One more thing whilst I'm logged on Mr BB, tell Don not to worry too much about undisclosed convictions, it's kinda self defeating when you think about it? If a driver does'nt tell the PCO about a conviction, the CRB will when it's renewed every three years.

Then the PCO discipline the driver for failure to inform them, and the punishment will be twice as bad as if they had.

Simple? Innit.

I would have thought that would have been obvious, even to folks like Terry.
