Change of image for taxi drivers

CAB drivers in North East Lincolnshire have a new dress code fit for the catwalk.

The code, which came into force yesterday, has given scores of taxi drivers a whole new image – despite the fact the council has not received a single complaint about the way a driver has been dressed in the past five years.

As reported, drivers could find their careers halted if they do not comply with the dress code agreed last December.

Out goes T-shirts with logos – especially offensive ones – ripped jeans, flip flops, running vests, baseball caps, football shirts, running shorts, track suits and jogging bottoms.

From now on drivers must wear a long or short-sleeved shirt with a collar and no sportswear.

However, after a front page story in the Grimsby Telegraph, drivers have been given special dispensation to wear football strips during this summer's World Cup.

In the summer months, or at other times of extreme hot weather, tailored knee-length shorts, with shoes or smart trainers will be permitted.

I would have thought dress sense would be common sense anyway.....!!

Then saying that some just cannot see how slob like they are..... Sloppily dressed, unkept, all together one big put off...... It's no wonder the trade tends to be looked down upon  :-|

I'd like to think it's cos they can't see how much like a slob they look but unfortunately most drivers I've spoken to can but don't care. I usually get things like 'ffs I'm only a taxi driver whats the fuss'

People might have a better opinion of us if we did.

That said I think that I might struggle to get a hat to fit my big head.
