@ Blackpool, that is about the long and short of the matter
@ Taxeman, fraid not mate, every night bus here has ceased trading except the unfairly sub'd ones, i.e Uni bus, at peak the longest a customer had to wait here at peak time was 20 minutes, have you ever been in a pub or a shop where it's taken 20 minutes to get served? I know I have and the cry from me should be more staff, but that isn't economically viable for the owner, same thing in a bank, only the cab industry seems to have to meet the criteria of instant gratification, and please remind me how long a PH customer can wait after phoning up, you're talking with one whose had 45 mins + waits before, nobody is being as critical towards PH as they are HC when it comes to waiting, and lets not forget Mr & Mrs we're just coming as they hold the car up in the middle of the road for 10 minutes because she hasn't finished applying her slap to her face or he's just got another pint after putting the phone down, I don't think the HC or PH owe the customer anything more than they already supply regarding availabilty,
Basics of it are if there is a queue at the rank and you don't want to wait you phone a PH car and wait for it away from the rank, with all this Law thing going on they've missed the one thing that would make a difference, public education, how 2 call a cab and be ready for it, how not to expect a driver to want your legless corpse in his car, how to get your wallet out and pay up without a dispute because you think it's normally 20p less etc, when you call be ready, when you hail get in and don't stand with the door open making up your mind where to go next, know where you want before you open the door, stay out of the road, roads are for cars, pavements for ppl, don't get a cab if you feel sick, put your seatbelt on, look for the car with the light on the roof if hailing, it ain't rocket science but it is to the simple and stupid.
