Where is/was yours? There is no good in asking the question of others if you cannot or could not do the same. If I remember correctly your idea of safety was to go out as you put it, "Tooled Up". On that basis I think that it is fair to assume that you could not make it any different to today.
Listen, I was not fighting the council on driver safety issues except for disabled wheelchair access, but I was fighting. And over the years, I’ve had my fair share of victories and defeats, but driver safety was not at the top of my agenda. Oh and I’ve also represented drivers at council meetings and written their bullshit letters, to get them off the hook, when faced with allegations from members of the public.
Now regardless of whether you want to believe I was successful or not changes absolutely nothing. The fact is, at present, your trade is doing Nada, Zilch a Big Fat Zero. Now if you want a real debate, let’s discuss your next move, which I might add, will be your first.

To a degree you are right in the fact that drivers do not do enough to help themselves - but that always has, and will be the case. The nature of the job isolates you from colleagues, so I guess bonding like a normal workplace is not going to happen any time soon.
Now that’s a fair comment, but it’s also an excuse for doing Jack all.

I would also say there is no reason for you to be "bigging" out the fact that you got out, to then have the attitude to men and women that you worked with, that they are the lowest of the low, just remember they choose to work as opposed to just accepting the dole - that in itself deserves respect. You also fail to grasp that there are risks in many occupations, ours is one of many that run risks, and is recognised as such. Action such as Militancy/Confrontation will never stop assaults/murders, the only thing you can do is to try and personally cut the odds on that happening, and there are no guarantees on that either.
I was calling my colleagues Cab *iggers for years before I got out. The lowest of the low is nothing new. Oh and once again, you go down the route of trying to justify doing nothing. You do see a familiar pattern developing here?

Basically if you think that it is just cabbies who have no clout, then think of the Police officers who had to buy their own stab proof vests (some Federation they have), then there are soldiers (the Queens army lol) who never had enough body armour to go around, in a nutshell the powers that be, do not care about them or us. So if you think that in times of austerity that the L.A's are going to help us with CCTV/whatever to eliminate problems in our cabs, well think again, because it never happened in your day when times were better, and quite frankly they could not care less.
Ooops and there it is again, even more justification for your present situation.

P.S. If you are going to do irony....let me know, as most of what you are saying comes across as if you mean it.
I am serious about taxi drivers being treated as Cab *iggers by their Uncle Toms and all working for the Massa with no exceptions.
Oh and I merely used irony to land the blow.

Oh and it caught your attention.

I get the gist of your post! It is called ducking bobbin and weaving, and of course the play with words (basically playing games) - Oh, and the name calling gives you very little credibility.
You point out that the reasoning put forward, (that is the reality that you fail to address/reply), is a short coming for doing nothing - and yet you never recognised that the fragmentation of the trade is the real reason for lack of unity. The bottom line is, and (I quote)
"You failed" to do what you are slagging off the rest of the trade for what you also failed on!!!!!!
The reality is that in the present climate (nothing to do with the weather) we will never get what we want, and that contrary to your limited thoughts it is a world wide problem. Drivers will have to take preventative measures for their own safety as they do in South Africa, America and other countries around the world.
Remember you said.......
Quote:
If you want to see people fighting for change, you will need to look to other parts of the world.
....well the bottom line is that it is basically uncontrollable - you are asking for something that is not practicable/possible, as already mentioned it is problematic throughout the world..........NOT JUST THE U.K.
Before you go any further, and just remember as already mentioned, this started off as an assault topic - you never (not that it is possible) managed to stop during your day, drivers getting murdered - so stop slagging off others for assaults, it is pathetic the way you go about it.
You can play with words all day - you will NEVER beat me.....you are wrong, and should man up about it.
