You see unlike yourself I can stand on my own two feet! I do not need a partner to hold my hand because I am competent as to what I do. You see I am an "Independent" I pay no overheads to any office, in a nutshell I am truly my own boss I do not work for an office/anyone, in fact the only person who comes anywhere near to being my boss is my good lady.......on that one she knows how far she can go!
Ah I see, so not only are you a high achieving Cab *igger you are “Independent* Cab *igger. I'm glad we cleared that up.
Nonetheless, you are licensed by your council. Meaning you have few rights and little protection when picking up the dregs of society.

You see, I start when I want to, I finish when I want to - if I want a day off then I take it - If I want to put an extra shift in then I do it. You see, I have the penultimate coming in and going home in my working life. You can no longer do that - you will have to fit in with others - they will bark and you will have to go running....good boy!
That’s not how the dog walking/crèche business works at all. You take on the clients you want, and you get paid to go for walks in the country.

You see, If anyone performs in my cab then they are asked/told depending on the situation to leave/get out.
Yeah and if someone makes a complaint, you are forced to spill your guts to the Cab Inspector in the hope that he doesn’t decide to suspend your licence. Aye Cab *igger John, you are your own man alright.

Part of my life was spent working in a Steel Works (Hot Rolling Section) - what would you have them do......turn the furnace down so we did not get burnt from time to time.........make the "Billets" softer so we did not get broken toes if one was unfortunate! Of course none of those because risk/danger came with the job!
A big part of my life was running "Pubs", again a situation that runs the risk of assault and murder.......it came with the job!
Ah here we go again, memory lane. It was alright to take sh*t and risk life and limb for a pittance, and this somehow makes it perfectly acceptable when driving a cab. You are big on justifying your current situation John. One might even call you an apologist for the working man not getting up off his ar*e and demanding better pay and conditions.
Quote:
Just like the Police, Fire service, Nhs, Forces, Steel Workers and many other jobs/professions risk comes with the job - Cab Drivers are no different.
Bollocks!! There is a certain amount of risk, deemed as acceptable in every line of work, but no one is expected to put themselves at risk just for the sake of it. That’s why you have the HSE, and workers’ rights to make sure you are not putting yourself in unnecessary danger, unless of course, you are a Cab *igger.

The problem that you deride others for is world wide, it is not something that you can fight to actually stop - you proved that by your failure to apparently try to do something, as to what the answer is you have never said.
Don’t talk sh*t, I’ve given answers to numerous problems facing Cab Drivers, only no one will get off their are*e and do something about it. They all seem to be apologetic Cab *iggers like you John, full of excuses and justification for doing nothing.
Oh and if you want proof take the wheelchair safety issue in Edinburgh and up and down the county. We slaughtered the council on that issue with the help of the HSE, and the trade reps of the time would not touch it. So only a few who were prepared to exercise their rights benefited.

Having said that sometimes you have to man up as an individual and sort your own problems out, or in your case leave the trade.
You wouldn’t know anything about manning up John and Cab *iggers the likes of you were one of the reasons I left the trade, so any derision, is well earned in my book.

You see, once again you choose not to answer my post re risk in many occupations, on that it is something that whilst I do not like it, it is something that I have to deal with.
John, if you want to choose a specific issue, you need guidance on, be my guest, but I have answered your banal excuses for doing zilch many times. You just keep refusing to see it.

So to sum you up.
Would I swap it for cleaning up other peoples dogs "Dog Poop", no I would not.............But! That is what you now do. At least the s h I t in my cab walks out on its own.
You are obviously not a dog lover John because you are missing all the good parts, of being out in the beautiful countryside with your canine companions. And I’ll take dog sh*t to the excrement you pick up off the streets, any day of the week. The human feces you deal with infects your very person, and there is no washing it off after a day's work, as it goes more than skin deep. Oh and if you want proof just look in the mirror.
