according to our LO we cannot charge more than the metered fare

Well according to the 1847 Town Police Clauses Act actually

It is a bit of a minefield, if someone pays in a foreign currency the Driver will face a charge at the Bureau de Change so could that be added as the resultant fare received would only be the correct amount.

If a passenger pays in any way other than cash (Sterling), the conversion should be charged to the payer, not the payee. I therefore think that the LO is wrong in this instance. The passenger paying the bank charge results in the correct fare being received.

As I mentioned on the other thread, speak to the youth and they will tell you this is how it's going to be.

You need to set up an account and display your little QR code logo inside the vehicle and after that it’s just a point and click for the customer. Doesn’t cost a bean and the 2.7% is levied on the customer account so you get 100% of the fare. The mistake is in thinking that nobody will embrace this kind of technology and prefer instead for you to take their card.

Here’s a link http://www.zapper.com/taxis.php

Bill :)

PS This isn’t intended as a promotion for Zapper and we don’t receive anything from them.

I spoke to them at the Donnington exhibition and I am stil waiting for them to call me.

Just how much information is required by a company to be able to pay money into a drivers bank account?

That is what I would have thought but oh no, they want passport or driving license number, copies of bank statements, utility bills etc, in fact just about everything needed to steal your identity. I have kicked this into the long grass.
